Aphrodite was born of the sea, as were pearls.
I do think about the way pearls come about: that they are agitated bits that lodge inside a sea creature, and little by little, layer by layer, translucent beauty is shaped into a gem whose luster glows against human skin. Perhaps that's why we love them SO much.
