Stunning 1950's couture by Estonia born designer Eleanora Garnett. Garnett started working for a dressmaker, picking up pins, and worked her way up. She went to Paris, where she was given a chance to work under the Paris designer Edward Molyneux. Maison Eleanora Garnett had elegant boutiques in both Rome and New York in the 1950's and 1960's. Her ready to wear pieces are hard to find, but her haute couture is extremely rare. Black silk chiffon with heavy ruching across the chest. Fully boned couture constructed bodice. Straight silhouette skirt adorned in delicately pleated tiers of ruffles. Exquisitely constructed. Great vintage condition. Contemporary U.S. size 6 to 8 but always check the measurements listed.
